Training camps – for many folks that conjures up an image of hard work, challenges that few can meet, feeling very tired, and needing an extended rest period!
Well, that’s one kind of training camp….Active at Altitude has developed a reputation for providing camps that combine hard work with play; that leave you room to rest, relax, and explore; that inspire you to become more than you think you can be; and that provide an environment that means you leave with new friends, friends that you will want to keep in contact with, and run with again!
Active at Altitude has just announced their camp schedule for 2015, offering three women’s running camps and two trail running camps for athletes of all abilities. Here is a description of the camps, and details on dates and how to register:
Women’s Running Camps
Our women’s running camps come in two levels – Level I for women that can already run a 10K (6.2 miles) or further at 10 min/mile pace or faster. These are ideal camps for women that are either newer to running, or a more experienced runner that is looking for a fresh spark, a chance to re-energize and perhaps recoup some running sparkle that has tarnished over the years?
We have two camps for this level, each 8 days, 7 nights, based at a comfortable vacation rental home in Estes Park, Colorado. Estes Park provides an incredible training environment, clean clear air, sunny days more than 300 days in each year, nature on your doorstep, all while inspired by stunning mountain views that literally take your breath away. We have lived here for more than 8 years now, and the magnificent beauty still stops us in our tracks daily. Camp dates are:
May 19 – 26, 2015 – Level I
This 8 day camp culminates in running one of the biggest, and best, 10K road races in the USA, theBOLDERBOULDER. The race takes place on Memorial Day, May 25 2015. This race usually has over 50,000 runners take part, and has a big atmosphere, and big heart! See details on the race here – you will need to register individually for the race.
The camp will focus on preparing for the race, both physiologically and psychologically. A key part will be learning how to pace yourself to enable you to have your best 10K race experience at altitude, so pacing will form a major part of the group runs during the camp (Boulder is at 5340 feet above sea level)
