Welcome to the official training blog for Vacation Races!
We are thrilled that Active at Altitude has been chosen as the Official Training Partner for Vacation Races, and look forward to working with you to help you train and prepare for the 2015 event season. This is our second year as Training Partner with Vacation Races – we had more than 1,500 runners sign up for our programs in 2014. We have been holding training camps at altitude in Estes Park since 2007, and coaching endurance athletes for over 20 years; we have worked with 1000’s of runners successfully helping them to achieve or exceed their goals  – we are passionate about what we do – our aim is to inspire and help you achieve your best! Vacation Races have chosen eight great locations for their 2015 races, both from a running perspective, as well as awesome places to visit, explore, and to be inspired by! We know you will enjoy your experience and want to try them all!

We have created three options for you for the 2015 Vacation Race series:

Training Programs for each race – two programs are available; one for beginner runners that is a 16 week program to race day, and a 12 week program to race day for intermediate or more experienced runners. Each program is only available by request – simply click on the link for the race you are interested in below – you will then be taken to a page with the training options for that specific race. Click on the request link for the race program that you require, fill in your details, and your program will arrive in your inbox every 4 weeks! These plans are free, and are designed to prepare you for your best race experience at your selected Vacation Race! To help you decide which plan level is right for you, here is a guide:

Beginner Program – 16 weeks

  • a complete beginner to running and training for a race
  • someone that has been a runner before and has not run for some time and is not running consistently currently

Intermediate Program – 12 weeks

  • someone that has been running reasonably consistently recently
  • someone that has recently run either a 5K or 10K where they ran all or most of the way

Total Race Preparation Program – Personalized program, race entry, race workshop, & mental training – for each Vacation Race in 2015 (apart from Yosemite), we are excited to offer a very special personalized full race ready program that covers both physical and mental training components:

  • 12 week personalized training program for your goal race
  • Free race entry – if you have already registered, Vacation Races will refund your entry fee
  • One day race preparation workshop on the Thursday before race day to cover mental preparation, race strategy, and course review
  • Free access to an exciting new mobile phone app to give you daily sessions with a positive focus to help prepare you mentally for your race
  • Over $500 value, priced at $325 per person – limited to 10 runners maximum per race

Race Preparation Workshop – for each Vacation Race in 2015 (apart from Yosemite), we are offering a special race preparation workshop. The workshop covers critical  pre-race items, mental preparation, race course review, and race strategy. The workshop takes place on the Friday morning before race day, and before expo / packet pick-up. Places are limited to 20 runners per race; cost is $60 per person for the first 10 signups, $75 per person thereafter.
