“To be able to meet women with my same interests and spend an entire week doing activities to make us better athletes physically, spiritually and mentally, was an experience of a lifetime.” Dena Jordan, NC, on the July 2010 camp
Active at Altitude is delighted to announce the 5th year of our series of running and conditioning camps created specifically for adult women. Following the growing success of our week long camps that started in 2009, these camps are an amazing opportunity to train and be active in one of the top training areas in the world, as well as learn from inspiring and experienced women athletes and coaches. These camps are for you if you are an experienced runner and need to rekindle your enthusiasm for running, or want to take your running to the next level, or if you are looking to train for your first 10K, half marathon or marathon – these camps will give you the tools and inspiration you are looking for, and more! We sold out each of the three camps in 2012, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
May – Sunday May 5 to Sunday May 12 – places available
July – Sunday July 21 to Sunday July 28 – places available

Each camp contains a blend of activities specifically designed to raise your conditioning level, particularly focused on running. Camps are residential here at Active at Altitude, our mountain lodge retreat and training center at 8,200 feet in beautiful Colorado. Each day of the camp is creatively designed to challenge and inspire, primarily running on roads & trails in and around Estes Park. Elite level athletes have been benefiting from the effects of altitude training for years – now you can too! Come and find out why athletes that come and train with us return home with renewed enthusiasm, motivation, and knowledge, and set PR’s! See information on the benefits of training at altitude here.
Each camp includes activities and sessions from the following:

I am delighted to announce that our popular coaching team will be returning for our 2013 camps – I am blessed to be working with Angelina Ramos, Nancy Hobbs, and Jacqui Chiplin.
Camp Director is Terry Chiplin, fitness and life coach, and owner of Active at Altitude. Terry has a wealth of experience working with athletes of all abilities, from Olympic marathoner to a runner completing their first 5K! Terry is also a coach for BOLDRUNNING based in Boulder. See more about Terry here.
The nearest airport is Denver International (DIA) – the airport is a 1.5 hour drive away from Active at Altitude. We provide transport during the camp, so you don’t need to bring your own. We recommend a local shuttle service that can pick you up at DIA, and drop you at the door here at Active at Altitude. They will also make the same run in reverse at camp end. To arrive in time for camp start, use the 1.00 pm shuttle from DIA. For return to DIA, use the 1.00 pm shuttle again. See more details and to book at Estes Park Shuttle. “Maybe you’ve doubted you’re a runner. Maybe you’re worried you can’t keep up with a pack. Or, just maybe, you’ve never allowed yourself the time to truly indulge in running. I struggled with all three of those things before attending a women’s running camp at Active at Altitude. I left renewed; with a stronger sense of myself, an amazing group of friends, and a new passion to run strong.”Megan, IL, Summer 2009
“I had a blast! It was a very indulgent week for me to do nothing but run, sleep, and eat (oh, yeah, and shop!)”Connie, Berthoud, CO, Summer 2009
“Active at Altitude offers breathtaking views, professional sports education, and wonderful hospitality to inspire you as a runner and heal you as a person. Thank you Terry and Angelina for a wonderful week.”Connie, PA, July 2010
“Just wanted to let you know how things are going with my running. I took your advice and have been running at a conversational pace for the past 2 weeks. To my surprise the faster I went the better it felt and I was in complete disbelief. It felt so amazingly effortless. I was able to go significantly faster with much less work output. I feel this could be a turning point in my training and that I am reaping the benefits of high altitude training. Thanks, Rosa”Rosa, MN, July 2010
“Even though the altitude was a challenge, the encouragement from Terry, Melody, Nancy and Jacqui was amazing! I would not have improved and achieved my goals from the camp without them!Lisa, CA, May 2010
“I arrived hoping to have a week of running instruction and fitness training, not really knowing what to expect. The setting was perfect and the week was full of a great variety of training and exercise sessions tailored extremely well to the level of all the participants. The camaraderie was wonderful and the entire experience was even better than I had hoped for. “Rebecca went on to take 5 mins off her 1/2 marathon PR 2 weeks after the camp.Rebecca, NH, September 2010
“Running camp has been an exceptional experience…I’ve experienced different types of running , and new ideas for cross training, while building the courage to set down my goals on paper, and building realistic plans to meet them. Thank you so much Terry and the running camp team!”Alison, Boulder, May 2011
“I gained many life tools over the past week, in addition to improving my running. I now have a support group that I trust to hold me accountable and give me honest feedback. Thank you ladies & Terry!”Shannon, TX, May 2011
“The camp was exactly what I needed at this point in my life! It helped me to find myself and bring clarity to my life, as well as revisit my goals and reconnect with my running. Thank you for all the support & encouragement! I will be back.”Stephanie, IL, July 2011
‘This was a running camp, with so much more! Spending a week with fabulous women, running, cross-training and laughing was a great way to recharge from my everyday activities!”Kim, NH, September 2011
“Overall this was an incredible experience & worth every minute of the long flights…I found the filming and reviewing of me running the most informative, especially since I haven’t ever had a running coach. “Sarah, Rome, Italy, September 2011
“Led by Terry, a group of women, who, for the most part, met each other for the first time at the camp, magically gelled into a family that cultivated the strength in each of us. I left this camp feeling stronger as a runner and as a woman than I ever have. I continue to feel nourished by my memories of this camp. Thank you to Terry, Angelina, Melody, and all the women I had the privilege of running with for such an empowering experience.”Mirabelle, Canada, May 2012
“I put so many fears aside, and learned so much about myself. my running, and loving life. The people were the best, and Terry and Jacqui made you feel totally comfortable and loved. I learned I am a BADASS!”Lorene, Texas, May 2012
“I had really reached a plateau in my running and needed a venue where I could learn how to improve while remaining injury-free and find new motivation for running. The coaching staff at Active at Altitude provided a holistic experience that was exactly what I needed to return home with a revised action plan for training in a healthy way both physically and mentally”Carolyn, Idaho, May 2012
“This was the most awesome experience. I am stronger, more knowledgeable. and confident as a runner. This experience will last me a lifetime!” Later, Catherine added: “Today I ran my usual long 1/2 marathon distance – and I was fully equipped with my Altra shoes, new confidence, and better running form. Aha! Just concentrating on my breathing and form, I could not help but notice that I knocked a whopping 14 mins off my usual run. I am very happy…”Catherine, Alaska, July 2012
